Overview
Dialogue is a French bistro and wine bar in Shimokitazawa, Tokyo. This is a self-initiated concept — not a commissioned project and not affiliated with the restaurant — built to show what a small restaurant site can look like when the menu, the wine list, the access details, and the reservation link all live in one place, in three languages.
The challenge
Why it mattered
A neighbourhood restaurant in Tokyo serves locals, visitors, and a French-speaking crowd at the same time. Most end up spread across a booking platform, a social profile, and a PDF menu that nobody can read on a phone. The concept had to answer the four questions a guest actually has — what is on the menu, what is on the wine list, where is it, and how do I book — in whichever of the three languages they arrived with.
What I built
- Trilingual JA / EN / FR structure, with the language carried across every page
- Menu and wine list laid out to be read on a phone, no PDF download
- Access page with station walking times, hours, and a maps link
- Reservation call-to-action routed to the booking platform instead of a form to maintain
- Full-bleed dish photography on a single dark palette, so the food carries the page
The result
A demonstration piece: a restaurant presence where a guest in any of three languages reaches the menu, the address, and the booking flow in a couple of taps.
